Job Description Summary:

The University Relations Manager is responsible for overseeing college and diversity recruiting for the enterprise. This leader will manage and guide the functions of the University Relations team members through engaged leadership and hands on coaching and development. The University Relations Manager will work closely with internal department leadership and other stakeholders to develop, implement and execute our college talent acquisition strategy and tactics

Job Description:


  1. Execute the college and diversity recruiting plan by working with and coordinating the participation of other Human Resources members, business members and stakeholders.

  2. Track and provide seasonal metrics and report on data reflecting college recruiting efforts, costs and outcomes, including budgeting recommendations for recruiting resources.

  3. Build strategic relationships with faculty, student groups, and alumni associations and participate in career fairs, networking events, information sessions and other recruiting events as needed.

  4. Oversee the management of college recruiting materials and the logistics involved with supporting multiple events.

  5. Help organize and lead reverse career fairs and community relations events that bring high quality candidates to the Company and promote J.B. Hunt as an employer of choice.

  6. Keep abreast of search tools, sourcing methods, best practices and industry trends for college recruiting and coordinate with internal marketing resources to develop and utilize social networking tools to engage and attract college prospects.

  7. Oversee the J.B. Hunt Summer Internship program and work with business members on staffing and candidate selection. Help facilitate educational and developmental activities for participants.

  8. Create informative presentations and present them to various student and other public groups during tours, classroom visits, and information sessions.

  9. Administer and maintain the J.B. Hunt brand on selected recruiting sites, and candidate relationship management software.

  10. Review job performance metrics on a regular basis to properly evaluate the team and progress towards established goals. Provide feedback and coaching to team members and hold them accountable for meeting individual goals and standards.

  11. Plan, organize and guide activities of the team, with collaboration from team members. Create and delegate projects and work assignments to department employees as needed to accomplish short-term and long-term initiatives and goals.

Four-year college degree and two years of relevant talent acquisition, staffing or university relations experience required; three or more years of experience is preferred; or comparable combination of education, experience, and training.

Must have a thorough knowledge of active and passive recruiting techniques utilizing multiple forms of media and social networking. An understanding of employment law about interviewing and selection is required. The ability to communicate clearly and give direction or advice to employees, hiring managers and candidates is a must. Experience with applicant tracking systems and human resource management systems or university management systems and processes are desired.
