Job Description Summary:
Final Mile Services specializes in professional and cost effective final mile deliveries throughout the United States. The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the daily management of a fleet of commercial drivers at an existing Dedicated Contract Services account. They are to ensure their daily routine optimizes the Company’s assets and maintains customer satisfaction for maximum account profitability and customer retention. The position usually works directly on the customer’s business site and reports to the Account Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitor their assigned drivers, material handlers and installers and their current load assignment to ensure safe, on time and efficient delivery.
Ensure outgoing loads are staged and pre-planned using optimal routing techniques to minimize costs and improve productivity.
Maintain contact with the customer to monitor pickup and delivery schedules, service quality, resolve irregular issues, and meet special requests.
Ensure returned merchandise is inspected, graded and entered into inventory.
Work with the drivers, installers, customers, and Company personnel to resolve customer, service, routing, mechanical problems, etc. as they occur throughout the day.
Aggressively promote the Company’s Safety culture and enforce company policies to ensure compliance with DOT and company safety requirements.
Coordinate with Maintenance to ensure all regular Preventive Maintenance services are scheduled on time and all safety related mechanical issues are fixed.
Build and maintain positive professional relationships with their assigned employees to minimize turnover and maximize productivity.
- Supervises approximately 5 to 50 drivers and employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the department's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Ensure all drivers meet and maintain DOT and Company driver qualifications.
Four-year college degree from an accredited educational institution with a preferred GPA of 2.70 or higher, or
Minimum of 3 years continuous employment with J.B. Hunt demonstrating management potential, or
Minimum of 3 years recent supervisory experience outside of J.B. Hunt, or
Military Non-Commissioned Officer with at least 3 years of supervisory experience (i.e., minimum E-4).
Preference will be given to candidates who are willing to relocate for future opportunities within the company.
