Job Description Summary:

As an Area Service Manager, you will manage day to day capacity and communicate needs with customers. You will be responsible for the operational side of our freight movements, maximizing utilization and ensuring outstanding issues are handled timely and properly.

Job Description:

The successful candidate for this role will:

  • Be accountable for growing volume profitably from internal groups and external customers

  • Plan every available truck/trailer every day for your assigned market, while delivering exceptional service

  • Optimize truck/trailer utilization by continual improvement of appointment velocity, trailer turns, empty mileage reduction and dwell time between loads

  • Develop and maintain trusting relationships internally and externally to attract sources of volume from various groups/customers


What does it take to be considered?

One of the following is required:

  • Four-year college degree from an accredited educational institution with a preferred GPA of 2.70 or higher; or minimum of 4 years in transportation/logistics related work experience

  • Must have experience planning for asset trucks

  • Military Non-Commissioned Officer with at least 3 years of supervisory experience (i.e., minimum E-4).

Other desired skills:

  • Ability to develop relationships for positive external customer and internal employee interaction

  • Excellent in communicating, problem solving, and decision making in a fast paced environment

  • Be able to display a high level of patience, influence, and professionalism

  • Aggressive, goal oriented, passion for continuous improvement and success

  • Must be able to work in Microsoft Excel, and operate in multiple web-based systems

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
