Job Description Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Talent Development and working very closely with the leadership development team, the Training Specialist will be responsible for development, design, management and delivery of J.B. Hunt’s talent development programs.

Job Description:

Primary responsibilities fall into the following areas:

  • Partners with T&D department and internal customers to creatively develop and facilitate a minimum of 20 hours per week of classroom-based leadership and on-boarding training programs through the application of a variety of instructional techniques such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, and lectures.

  • Integrates classroom training with diverse, real-world, business-specific situations in order to drive learning outcomes.

  • Partners with our online training expert to create web based training modules and the delivery of instructor facilitated webinars.

  • Continuously and proactively updates and improve courses and delivery methods.

  • Delivers training programs in multiple locations across the country (travel in excess of 30% may be required).

  • Manage all logistics involved in all classroom, virtual classroom, eLearning courses including enrolment, accommodations, pre-assessments, etc.

  • Assess effectiveness of training programs through a variety of methods including surveys.

  • Has high energy and enthusiastic presentation style that will engage and energize participants.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/BA from an accredited institution

  • 3+ years in a formal management position.

  • 3+ years of strong stand up facilitative training experience.

  • Must look forward to, and gain energy from, the delivery of training programs.

  • Comfortable being highly detailed, organized, efficient, and deadline driven on all project and administrative tasks.

  • Very comfortable using MS Office applications such as Power Point, Word, and Excel.

  • Expert at listening and building rapport with internal customers at all levels.

  • Extremely effective time management skills with little supervision.

  • Strong verbal and written skills.

  • Collaborative, flexible, and committed team player.

  • Must be extremely comfortable giving and receiving developmental feedback on a regular basis.

  • High emotional intelligence is a must.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS/MA in related discipline from an accredited institution.

  • Knowledge of the transportation, logistics, or supply chain industry.

  • Experience in formal executive/management coaching.

  • Skilled at conducting needs analysis to determine training requirements and appropriate delivery methods
