Job Description Summary:

Under general direction, the incumbent identifies and implements strategic, innovative methods and decision support systems to improve the overall value of J.B. Hunt Transport's service delivery processes for both internal and external customers. Uses advanced Industrial Engineering and Management Science (IE/MS) techniques to create engineered decision-making solutions that control costs, increase revenues, and optimize network efficiency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Manage/lead a moderate size team of engineers dedicated to solving transportation logistics problems for the assigned business unit.

2.Working with their assigned team, consults with the business units to identify, define strategies and capture opportunities to reduce cost, increase revenue, and optimize network performance using IE/MS concepts.

3.Apply IE/MS concepts (process analysis, work measurement, simulation, statistical analysis, operations research, etc.) in innovative ways to key business improvement opportunities.

4.Coordinate engineering and technology efforts to ensure roadmaps and deliverables are aligned with business and enterprise objectives.

5.Develop project plans and manage teams to build and deliver the engineered solutions.

6.Work with internal and external customers to implement the engineered processes and decision-support tools to monitor results to ensure desired outcomes are realized.

7.Maintain proficiency and currency of knowledge and expertise in related IE/MS fields of study for both themselves and their assigned employees.

Job Description:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or business related field

  • 8-10+ yrs experience in a technical role

  • 5+ years experience managing employees

Technical:

  • Strong Data Mart & ETL Skills

  • Strong SQL background

  • Tableau and/or Power BI background a plus

  • Experience managing offshore resources

  • Prior experience in a self-service environment a plus

  • Deep understanding of current trends and general business knowledge

  • Demonstrated process mapping skills

  • Ability to identify and sell commonality in processes across multiple business units

  • Aware of how data flows across business processes

  • Awareness and working knowledge of IT infrastructure

  • Knowledge of business applications strategy and implementation

  • Develop and document test cases with users

  • Provide end-user testing and training

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Leverages functional/technical expertise to get results

  • Contributes to overall project status reporting

  • Effective cross-functional decision making
