Job Description Summary:
This position is responsible for leading a technology team to build/grow an online supply chain system for B2B and B2C. The Director of e-Commerce is responsible for executing a digital transformation of J.B. Hunt. She/he will bring to the organization an entrepreneurial spirit coupled with deep industry experience of building and running an enterprise-wide, high-volume transactional online system with an outstanding user interface. This position will have significant visibility across the organization. The Director will easily transition from executive level conversations to customer engagements to detailed technology requirements and analysis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Provide the primary interface with internal customers to ensure support and alignment with the business strategy.
Supervise managers in Applications responsible for the development and support of the business. Provide goal setting, mentoring, performance reviews, and counseling.
Provide support and enforcement of policy and procedures for the department and the organization.
Develop and work with other IT management to achieve strategic objectives of the IT department.
Set, implement and monitor strategies for continuous improvement.
Develop and implement budgets and long-term staff plans. Ensure effective use of organizational resources.
Develop and practice vendor relationship management to gain best pricing and support, to develop partnerships with each vendor.
Focus on execution excellence, with organization, project management and process engineering support of all areas of the organization.
Conduct monthly budget review meetings with the customer to provide status and set future direction.
Conduct monthly steering committee meetings.
Participate in the development and management of the budget, and maintain controls to assure compliance with budgeted expenses, resources and staff projections.
Monitor, recommend, and oversee implementation of industry trends, direction and develop strategies to ensure the organization is achieving best practice.
Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

Supervises three to five managers and/or others with a total team of 40 to 60 employees in the department.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the department's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Science or equivalent required.
Master’s degree preferred.
Seven to 10 years related experience (hands-on, high-volume transactional e-commerce system is a must).
